Location

Just three minutes from the A11, Great Ellingham is a gateway to the nearby historic market towns of Hingham and Attleborough, where you’ll discover a variety of independent stores, cafés, restaurants and food shops.

Local Area

Hingham is a quintessentially English town full of character and charm, just five minutes from Bowsfield. Steeped in history, Hingham now walks the line between traditional community and modern hub.

Dating back to 1085, the historic market town of Attleborough is another popular choice, only five minutes away from your new home at Bowsfield. Located between Thetford and Norwich, it has everything you could need, from shops, supermarkets and services, to a doctor’s surgery, dentist and a whole range of eateries and 16th century inns.

The joy of a Bowsfield home is all the benefits of rural living whilst still having city access: the vibrant cities of Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge are all accessible from the development.

Norwich is a short 30-minute drive from your modern countryside abode. From leisure centres to sports parks, annual festivals to open outdoor markets, and some of the best independent shopping in the country, The City of Stories has so much more to offer than merely being the iconic gateway to the Norfolk Broads.

While Cambridge is known globally for its outstanding university, this bustling, forward-thinking city is also an exceptional place to discover theatres, galleries, cafés, museums and some of the most elegant architecture in the region. As an essential part of the tech corridor, it is home to some of the world’s fastest up-and-coming start-ups and technology’s biggest names.

On the other side of the Norfolk border, Bury St Edmunds is a jewel in the crown of Suffolk with thousands of years of history, a vast range of shopping, delicious eateries, theatres, live music and art all waiting to be discovered and explored.

Things to Do

Nestled in the rolling countryside landscape of Norfolk’s Breckland District, the charming village of Great Ellingham boasts a wide range of amenities, including shops, the cricket club, the nearby farm shop at Rookery Farm and The Crown Public House.

For young children, the Great Ellingham Primary School is just a short walk away and is rated highly by Ofsted. Wymondham College, a first-class state school for day and boarding students aged 11-18, is just six miles from Bowsfield.

Great Ellingham is renowned for its community spirit, with various clubs, friendly societies, and its iconic annual family-friendly ‘Teddy Bear Festival’.

Despite Bowsfield’s rural location, it has easy access to plenty of things to do and exciting days out. For example, the local observatory, within walking distance, holds regular viewing nights where you can see and learn more about the stars in the dark skies of Norfolk.

Less than a 20-minute drive will bring you to Banham Zoo, one of the most exciting zoos in the country, with over 2,000 animals from around the world, all set in 50 acres of idyllic Norfolk countryside.

A similar distance in the other direction will bring you to Thetford Forest, the UK’s largest manmade lowland forest. It’s a great family day out location with 18,730 hectares to explore, Go Ape’s adrenaline-filled treetop adventures, Segway hire, walking trails, cycling and more.

The county of Norfolk is renowned for its beautiful broads and coastline as well as the much-loved country retreat of the British Royal Family, Sandringham, less than an hour’s drive from the development.
